Sourdough Starter

  • 1 tsp strong flour
  • 1 tsp warm water

Method

Mix 1 tsp of flour & 1 tsp of warm water into a clean jam jar. Cover with the lid but do not tighten, leave in a warm area for 24 hrs – repeat this for 5 days until the the mixture is fermenting.

After the 5 days this can be sorted in the fridge until needed – I’ve had my jar on the go for 5 years

Building up the sourdough for bread making

  • 10g of starter
  • 100g strong bread flour
  • 100g warm water

Method

Mix all 3 ingredients into a bowl and loosely cover & store in a warm place for 6 to 8 hrs until fermenting

When bubbling this is a ready to use Sourdough Starter
